The Challenge
In late Spring 2008, this large oil and gas company contacted Futureboard to support them with a recruitment campaign. It was very late in the hiring cycle and they had not seen the right calibre of applicants come through their standard process. The application deadline had passed and they needed to hire additional candidates. They gave us 6 weeks to turn the project around.
Our Solution
Given the time of year and time constraints involved, we needed to tap into our immediate network and proactively target students that we thought would be right. Many students had not considered a career in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, so it was worthwhile us taking a personalised message to small groups of individuals and taking the time to explain the opportunity to them in more depth.
We focussed on energy courses and departments to tap into individuals that were interested in the sector. We talked to students that had studied numerate subjects for those that would have the right skillset for supply chain. Finally, we targeted Masters level students that had specifically chosen to study Supply Chain courses.
The Result
- All hires were made
- 100% offer to acceptance rate
- Feedback from the hiring managers was extremely positive
