Design an assessment process that evaluates high-potential

The challenge

Design and implement a graduate selection and assessment process that was 'best-in-class' and ensured that high-potential individuals were hired. The brief was to design a fresh, innovative and challenging assessment process that reflected the culture of the organisation whilst fitting into a one day event.

Solution

Before we started the design process we researched what their competitors were doing in relation to assessment, as we wanted this to look and feel different. We then conducted a job analysis exercise to understand what competencies we were striving to measure on the day. Then in consultation with the client, we came up with 5 exercises that were both relevant to the business and challenging.

Following the design phase, we road tested the exercises with real students and refined them so they were ready to use. All assessors attended a full day of training before attending an assessment centre.

  • Assessors felt confident in the decisions they made on the day
